Regional farmers Forum East and Southern Africa happening now in Dar Es Salaam until tomorrow 25th November 2022. Plus 70 farmers and farmer organizations’ participants drawn from the Eastern Africa Farmers Federation (EAFF), Eastern and Southern Africa Smallholder Farmers’ Forum (ESAFF); Intercontinental Network of Organic Farmers Organization (INOFO); Southern African Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU); World Forum of Fish harvesters and Fish workers (WFF); and World Farmers Organization (WFO) are participating. Also, in attendance are IFAD country directors, officers, and IFAD regional staff from Eastern and Southern Africa.
The Forum was officially opened by Hon. Antony Peter Mavunde Deputy Minister for Agriculture, the United Republic of Tanzania in presence of Satu Santala, Associate Vice President, External Relations and Governance, IFAD; Sara Mbago-Bhunu, Regional Director, East, and Southern Africa Region, IFAD; Elizabeth Nsimadala, President, President of EAFF and Dr. Sinare Yusuph Sinare, President, Southern Africa Confederation of Agricultural Unions (SACAU)
The FAFO is an important occasion where farmers and IFAD are able to meet and take stock of developments in Agriculture, and identify priorities and experiences and it provides space for IFAD to understand us better and also receive feedback on some of their programs. Tomorrow there will be a joint statement from IFAD and FOs committing to more collaboration.
